The Old Neighborhood

Welcome to Ono Island!
Located on the beautiful Alabama Coast in Orange Beach and situated perfectly to be private yet convenient. This was our OLD neighborhood. We had a second home here for 3 years. We have so many great memories that were spent here on Ono with family and friends! Step on the Island and leave your cares behind. The gentle trade winds sooth and relax and sets your frame of mind to “IT’S 5 O’CLOCK SOMEWHERE!!!”
Approximately 6 miles long and hardly a quarter of a mile wide, it is home to about 1500 residences with plenty of room to still grow. The Island is entirely in Alabama, but it straddles the Florida / Alabama line right where the world famous FLORA-BAMA bar is located. Here are some pics from Ono...hope you ENJOY looking!

As you can see...we didn't live like some of our neighbors!

Off To The Beach I Go!

I'm off to the beach for a week of relaxing and some work...you see...I always find some kind of work to do while I'm at the condo. I"m hoping to be able to work on my blog this week (it neeeeds some help) and get it looking and working better. I will be thinking of all of you while I'm catching some rays...sitting on my beach front balcony, working on my blog...and taking some wonderful walks along our beautiful Alabama coastline. Watch out this week for some beautiful BEACH pics from me!

Linda

FALL Is Here...Part Two!

Well part two is finally here...my FALL wreath is up...so I guess that means that FALL is officially here! I made this wreath for a whopping $6.45!!! I spent $1.99 for the wreath, $2.97 for the pics, $1.49 for the "S" letter and the spray paint and burlap was FREE! I painted the letter with Heirloom White and then sanded the edges to give it a little distressed look...tied it up with some burlap and here it is...what a beauty I have here and I didn't break the bank! I still have more to come so stay tuned for part three.

Fringe Benefits

I have two parsons chairs in my bedroom that have slipcovers on them...they have been in need of some fringe or ribbon on the bottom so the legs of the chairs would not show...well I finally covered up those ugly legs. I found some fringe at Tuesday Morning...paid $5.99 for three yards...what a deal...I think I will be going back for more.I purchased these chairs a couple of years ago at a local furniture store at a really deep discount(wish I could remember what the price was but old age has taken care of that), purchased the slipcovers at Target for $10.00 each and now spent $6.00 for some fringe...and now my sitting area is complete.

Before the fringe

I wasn't kidding...what an UGLY leg!

Great stuff!

Wacky Saturday

The past three weekends I have been out of town...so you know what that means...No Time for projects! I can say that I have had three wonderful and exciting weekends, I have been in AUBURN watching my Tigers play...best of all...we are 3-0!

This past Saturday was by far the BEST...started the day tailgating with about fifteen parents and 35 students...yes...I said 35 students...they just kept coming! Tailgating was a blast...food...fellowship...football... is always FUN! Here comes game time (6:45 p.m.) and the FLOOD GATES OPEN...we had almost 4 inches of rain in about 2 hours...the game was postponed until the lighting stopped...we stayed in the stadium under cover for almost 2 hours...no more lighting...so let the game begin! The game was a close one and we ended up winning it 41-30...boy it sure is...GREAT TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER! The game was over at 11:20 p.m. and when we made it back to our tailgate...well what can I say...we had a MESS...one of our tents didn't hold up so well in that rain storm...made it to our hotel at 2:00 a.m.! Got home Sunday afternoon and have been trying to dry out everything...so you can just imagine what my house looks like!

Hope to finish some projects this week before I head to my beach condo on Saturday for the week. Here are some pics from my Wacky Saturday!

Blessings,
Linda

FALL Is Here...Part One!

The weather here on the coast doesn't quite feel like FALL yet...but can't a girl dream? College Football season has started and here in the South that definitely means that FALL is on it's way. I have been busy decorating my home for the FALL and this is part one....stay tuned...part two is coming soon!

Is This Trash?

Why would someone discard this....it's a beauty! When I found this it had two missing casters....instead of replacing the others...I decided to remove them and do away with a rolling stool. This beauty is working out great for me....better than the bamboo chair I was using at my vanity....and it was FREE...boy I love that word!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

I came across a recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies and my daughter was out of the house in a dash to get everything we needed for these little goodies. I have made these for a office luncheon and football tailgating....everyone was IN LOVE at first bite! Try these and you will be IN LOVE too!

Blessings,
Linda

You will need...one Betty Crocker Brownie Mix...one Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix.....One tub of Betty Crocker Chocolate Icing..oops I have Duncan Hines...soooo sorry Betty! Follow the directions for the brownie mix and pour into a 13x9 pan, then mix up the cookie dough and drop by rounded tablespoons into the brownie batter, bake for 35-40 min.@350 degrees (preheated). After they are done, let them cool for about an hour and then frost them....now don't blame me if you get addicted to these!

Don't they look delicious? Sorry I forgot to get a pic after I put the icing on them...it was late!

New Twist on Shower Rods

Get rid of all those boring old SHOWER RODS....install a BAMBOO ROD....WOW what a statement this makes! I went to a local home decor store and purchased a BAMBOO piece...install some shower cups to the wall to hold it in place and she was up and looking good! Try this...I don't think you will be disappointed.

Blessings,
Linda

I did this in a small bathroom at my beach condo....I liked it soooo much, that I think I will do this in a guest bath at home.

Family Heirlooms

Family heirlooms are such a delight to have and my mother-in-law left me some beautiful things....over the years I have used many of her treasures in our home and today I thought I would share a couple of them with you. I will post more of her treasures in the next couple of weeks...I have so many beautiful antique pieces to pass on to our daughters...I hope they appreciate them as much as I do.

Here in my dressing area is a collection that I display....I truly treasure all her beautiful things!

Lovely Vintage Pin...I can just see her wearing this to church on Sundays!

Vintage Pearl Evening Handbag....I have used it for weddings and nights out on the town!
